WETTON/DOWNES ON WISHBONE ASH REMAKE John Wetton and Geoff Downes have both made contributions to a track on the forthcoming brand new version of Wishbone Ash's seminal 1972 album 'Argus', presently being recorded by Martin Turner's Wishbone Ash - Martin Turner being the founder member of British rock legends Wishbone Ash and the key creative force behind the original award-winning album. John joined Martin in the studio on 30 December to add his distinctive vocals to “Throw Down the Sword”. The blend of the voices of John and Martin – two of the true signature voices of classic rock – proved to be the perfect combination, breathing new life into the song’s harmony vocal parts, while at the same time retaining full respect for the original arrangement.
Geoff contributed to the project earlier, beautifully reproducing the Hammond organ parts on “Throw Down the Sword” that were originally played by John Tout (of Renaissance). A statement on Martin Turner's official website reads: "Martin Turner’s Wishbone Ash wish to take this opportunity to thank John and Geoff sincerely for their special contributions to the album" Further information can be found at www.wishboneash.co.uk |
