    Year 2006

    "PETE YORN" - NIGHTCRAWLER

In 2001, Pete Yorn shot out of nowhere with an outstanding, even astonishing, debut album "Musicforthemorningafter", which was an incredible collection of heartfelt songs with a great pop hook. Two years later, Yorn released "Day I Forgot", another nice album not at the level of the debut album. After taking a long pause (and releasing a great live CD), now comes the third studio album. The New Jersey-bred singer/songwriter remains heavy on the pop-sensical rock songs that have sketched out his young, but million-selling career. If you like Yorn then its a great album to own,if not still there are a few good songs to knock your socks of.

"THE ZUTONS" - TIRED OF HANGING AROUND

The second album from the Liverpool scene, for "THE ZUTONS",follows the succes of their debut "Who Killed........The Zutons".This album for the Mercury Prize Nominated Band was Produced by Stephen Street (The Smiths, Kaiser Chiefs).

With a good collection of songs they reveal their skill for vintage rock and britpop-rock and some of the best rowdy sax since the "Specials".The sound is simillar to the first album but a bit more rockish blending bluesy, jazzy, ska and pop.For sure worth listening to.

    THE ANSWER - RISE

The young act from U.K.(North Ireland),set to break huge in the international stage with their blend of classic and modern rock.Allready critically acclaimed as the best British hard rock debut of the last 10 years!

For a debut album "Rise" includes everything.Starting from the cover of the album, with that brown old-photo colour and the band just getting of stage and the recording itself wich blends classic rock,to hard rock,a bit of blues,a mix of the modern times, good quitar riffs, nice vocals and above all is the huge heart and soul that was given for the making of this album! Not to be missed!

    STONE SOUR - COMEWHAT(EVER) MAY

The best part about "Slipknot" taking another hiatus is that we can finally expect a new "Stone Sour" album."Stone Sour", a side project of  "Slipknot",s singer Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root, made a great debut in 2002, but the band was put on hold due to the success of Slipknot's 2004 album, "Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses)." Now they've returned, four years later, with their long awaited, much anticipated sophomore effort, "Come What(ever) May." They have a lot to prove with this album, since many thought their first disc was a one-trick pony which mooched off of Slipknot's success.Anyway it is a new-metal album with power tunes and good music.

TRIBE OF GYPSIES - DWELLER ON THE THRESHOLD

That is a very complicated but original sound, not easy to describe. If you know the band then you can understand it.In this album propably they delliver their best in quality of sound songs and music.it is a mix of rock-latin-swing-and tribal sounds. You must listen to it!

    TRIVIUM - THE CRUSADE

Formed in Orlando,Florida at the dawn of the 21st century,"TRIVIUM" was soon picked up by small independent label Lifeforce Records, which released their debut album "Ember To Inferno" in 2003.One track from this album appeared on a magazine compilation CD,which fell into the lap of Roadrunner Records Senior VP of A&R Monte Conner (Slipknot, Sepultura) who immediately heard the potential in the band. The "Crusade" is clearly a body of work that could raise the bar for metal-rock bands around the world. This is a realized,well-played,enough good release from a talented young band that's clearly just beginning to scratch the surface of its full potential.

THE STROKES - FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH

The Strokes came on the music scene ablazing with 2001's "Is This It",one of those perfect "once-in-a-blue-moon" debut albums.2003's "Room on Fire" was a far too predictable sequel to "Is This" and thus a disappointment, while pleasant in its own right at times. But it was clear that the Strokes needed to expand their musical pallet. And that, they have! "First Impressions of Earth" feels like the first really full album of the Strokes and not just because of the length of it.Singer-songwriter Julian Casablancas is not rushing songs, instead taking the time to let them blossom musically.Disappointing album for some maybe not for others. We'll let you make up your own opinion.

SOUL ASYLUM - THE SILVER LINING

Soul Asylum's ninth full-length album, is every bit as quirky and off-centered cut-to-the-bone rock as their hardcore fans have come to expect, an indication that the Minneapolis-bred band has lost none of its edge. And why should they.It captures the bands best in swinging and rocking.

"I'm really proud of this record," said Dan Murphy. "It's a guitar record and it was really fun to record. It will always remind me of Karl when I listen to it. He was really sick, but still pulled through and finished it in Soul Asylum fashion."

"It makes me think of Karl," agreed Dave Pirner. "It was long overdue to record exclusively in Minneapolis because we hadn't done so in 15 years and the natural surroundings of home was something we needed. We feel extra proud of it because we did it on our own."

    BIG COCK - BIG COCK

Maybe a bad name for a band or simply given for the attension."BIG COCK" play classic 80's old school hard rock style music using the nature of their name as more as they can! "BIG COCK" featuring Lynch Mob's Robert Manson on vocals and King Kobra's quitarist Dave Henzerling. This is the second album and its almost repeating the debut one.Plenty of energy, fun and attidute in this album definitely to be heard loud!

    DAUGHTRY - DAUGHTRY

From the "American Idol" (U.S. t.v. show) to a debut album! Clever move from Chris Daughtry to title his album after his own name, since the only recognition he had so far was through a T.V. show.It seems that Chris can rock his way on the album with good songs, familiar sounds and pop-rock tunes. His voice is smooth, yet edgy and the mix of sound throughout the entire CD is well made.

ZENO - RUNAWAY TO THE GODS

Yes it is him again! Vocalist MICHAEL BORMANN (who is a friend of ours),after a quiet 12 months returns with his third in 2 months! And there is more to come next year.In this album his the guest vocalist for the songs written and played entirely by the German artist Zeno Roth.It always takes many years until Zeno delivers to his fans with a new album of his melodic-hard-rock music. But when the album is finally released,it's always a masterpiece Now,eight years after "Listen to the Light", Zeno returns with another rock jewel!

MEATLOAF - BAT OUT OF HELL 3 (THE MONSTER IS LOOSE)

The long awaited third record in the ""Bat Out of Hell trilogy"" roars freely and lound.Great album equal to the expectations and the power of the "Bat 1" and "Bat 2".With rock tunes and ballads of over 20 years of rock history and Broadway glamour. With collaborators (and occasional defendant in Meat Loaf lawsuits) Jim Steinman, producers Desmond Child and Todd Rundgren. Also with the powerful female voices of  Marion Raven, Patti Russo and Jennifer Hudson.Along with guest musicians and songwriting help from Steve Vai, Marilyn Manson's-John 5, Motley Crue's-Nikki Sixx, Queen's-Brian May, and many others. It's been nearly thirty years since "Bat Out of Hell", and thirteen years since "Bat Out of Hell 2".Trully something to listen to!

    WINGER - IV

When "WINGER" left us with their last album "Pull",propably no one thought or expected that there was gonna be a sequel."Pull" was  a mature album and a big success then. Many people maybe think that ""IV" is different and difficult to listen to.For us "IV" is a classic-rock album sounding like "WINGER",with power songs and good music.

    WIG WAM - WIG WAMANIA

First glance we ever had before the Norwegians "WIG WAM" was at the Eurovision song contest two years ago with the song "In My Dreams".They were diferrent and strange we thought. How wrong we were until we got to listen to their first album "Hard To Be A Rock'n'Roller".An excellent melodic-glam-rock album. In 2006 they released their new record named "Wig Wamania",another great album, filled with very good songs tide together with one of the best glam-rock music ever!

True rock legends means to be able of keeping your standards musically and artistically through the years at a permanently high level. That is exactly who and what "UFO" are! Their latest release, "The Monkey Puzzle",marks the return of drummer Andy Parker, who had been part of the original line-up that recorded the legendary debut at the end of the Sixties and has already played live on stage again with his old friends - Phil Mogg, Pete Way and Paul Raymond. Thanks to American guitarist, Vinnie Moore, who joined the fold three years ago the band grown stronger. The album is beautiful from start to finish, pure rock!

    TOOL - 10.000 DAYS

With a majority of the songs on "10,000 Days" clocking in well past the seven-minutes,you wouldn't be entirely mistaken in thinking that the title of the album refers to how long it actually takes to make it through the whole thing! "TOOL" fans have been waiting five years for the follow-up to 2001's "Lateralus" which debuted at number one and sold 2.3 million copies in the United States! Formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1990, Tool has firmed themselves in today's hardcore music with uncompromising attitude and vision. With just one EP and three album releases over a 15-year run, "TOOL" has created a loyal and even rabid fan base, selling over 10 million albums and half a million videos in the U.S. alone!!!

    TOM PETTY - HIGHWAY COMPANION

Tom Petty returns to the studio, reuniting with producer/Wilbury sideman Jeff Lynne sans Heartbreakers for his third solo release. The album reminds the Tom Petty of older years. All of the songs were once again written by Petty, and the singer/songwriter also played rhythm guitar, drums, harmonica, electric piano, bass, and lead guitar and provided lead and backing vocals on the album's various tracks. The  album is full of Petty-guitar driven rock, catchy lyrics and choruses to us singing!

THREE DAYS GRACE - ONE X

Even that the lyrics are about nightmares, pain, isolation and broken relationships,"One X", the new album from "THREE DAYS GRACE" can still find its way through to the listener.Three years after their debut album and the succes it had, they return with another good one, concerning the songs and the production.Despite the dark nature of the album it is not a disappoint.Instead of that it will get you.

THE POODLES - METAL WILL STAND TALL

What could possibly someone say about the Sweedish band called "THE POODLES",having an album named "Metal Will Stand Tall"???

We can say for certain that theese guys will make 'metal stand even taller'!!! It is an amazing album from start to finish. Its the old rock'n'roll mixed with todays metal.

Jakob Samuel the frontman of "THE POODLES" is a personal friend of mine.I know him since his earlier days.Jakob was and always will be a great singer a great performer and a great drummer,in case you dont know it! The rest of the "Poodles" are: Christian Lundgvist drums,Pontus Norgen quitar and Pontus Egberg bass.

It seems that  "THE POODLES" can bite harder and for sure they can stand tall with their rock'n'roll !!!

    THE PANIC CHANNEL - ONE

Considering that members of this band have been in "Porno For Pyros","Red Hot Chili Peppers","Infectious Grooves" and 3/4 of these guys were in "Jane's Addiction",we were expecting a bit better work.Maybe we should  wait for the next album untill we judge them hard. The bottom line is that Dave Navarro,Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney, are good musicians, having a good vocalist Steve Isaacs.

THE DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND - SYNCHESTRA

"Synchestra"is Devin’s sixth solo project. He did practically everything from song writing to mastering and engineering.Devin says:"The main difference is: Synchestra is not music that 'tells you what to do' ...more like it invites you in to be a part of it, and through relatively vague lyrical content and some quasi instrumental tracks, allows you to experience it without being besieged with uncomfortable or particularly strange lyrics... for once, a record that is heavy, epic, melodic, and joyful… and it’s fun to listen to".

We agree with mr Townsend.Listen to it.

SUNSTORM - SUNSTORM JOE LYNN TURNER

When it comes to these "project" albums, no one can touch what Frontiers has done lately with some of the genre's best vocalists. In 2004 it was From the Inside (featuring Tyketto's Danny Vaughn) and Starbreaker (featuring TNT's Tony Harnell). In 2005 they gave us Place Vendome (with ex-Helloween vocalist Michael Kiske). And to close out 2006 we get Sunstorm, which features none other than the great Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple) on vocals. This is one of the best albums in 2006,with excellent songwriting and vocal permomances. In addition to all this,Turner is joined by stars such as Jim Peterik (Survivor), Jack Ponti (Surgin') and Dan Huff (Giant)."Sunstorm" will be a classic album full of power songs and excellent ballds.Must be heard!

    SNOW PATROL - EYES OPEN

"SNOW PATROL" seems a bit strange in their song writing.
"There are swaggering bands, bands who are in your face. And then there are bands who get hold of you somewhere else.I think it's a heart thing, an intimacy thing. Like you know them and they know you.I think we are one of those bands." So says Snow Patrol singer and chief songwriter Gary Lightbody. This is a new-rock album with interresting songs and a good follow up of 2004's two million record selling "Final Straw".

US heavy metal legends "RIOT" are celebrating their 30th year in the heavy metal world since their inception in 1976.Though they have gone through numerous member changes over the years, the band has maintained a fairly consistent lineup since the early 90's.Their albums also gone from traditional heavy metal sounds to more melodic or power-driven releases."Army Of One" retains both European and American sounds. The album is also featuring awesome guitar work, some really agressive singing and long instrumental breaks. The band's fans in Japan and Europe will love this album, while in the USA they remain a bit low.

The new album by RAZORLIGHT doesn't reach so much their 2004 debut "UP ALL NIGHT".It has that catchy listening of the band anyway. It seems they are trying really hard to prove, that they are unique in their field and in a way they do succeed it.The album includes some nice songs and a few new sounds.

    PLANET ALLIANCE - PLANET ALLIANCE

"Planet Alliance" is an apt name for this project. A stack of European melodic metal stars have formed an alliance to record this record.
Stars of Cloudscape, Last Tribe, Ozzy Osbourne, Hammerfall, Freak Kitchen, Narnia, Rob Rock and more gather under the watchful eye of Magnus Karlsson (Last Tribe, Allen/Lande) to produce something similar to Karlsson's recent work such as Starbreaker, Allen/Lande and Tony O'Hora.

    PEARL JAM - PEARL JAM

On its eighth studio release--and first since 2002--the band socks away the adventurous experimentation that dogged some of its most recent records to investigate a post-September 11, war-ravaged world."It's the same everyday in a hell manmade/What can be saved, and who will be left to hold her?" lead singer Eddie Vedder wonders in "World Wide Suicide," one of several contemptuous rants on the Bush administration. But this is not a pure political record only.It is also a very good garage-rock album that "PEARL JAM",so beautifuly can make.

PAUL STANLEY - LIVE TO WIN

It's taken many years, but "KISS" frontman Paul Stanley has finally gone solo.Stanley's career with KISS spans more than three decades and in excess of 100 million records sold worldwide!!!
"This album is purely a labor of love," says Stanley. "It is a labor of passion, and something where I was concerned with turning out the album I heard in my head, without regard for having glitz and star power from other sources. It was purely about making the album I wanted to make." And he did an excellent album, wonderfull songs, power music and beautiful ballads.
Live to Win is self-produced by Stanley, who provides lead vocals, guitar and percussion alongside a studio core of guitarist Corky James, drummer Victor Indrizzo and keyboardist Harry Sommerdahl. Also performing on the album are former KISS bandmate Bruce Kulick and guitarist John 5.
"I've always believed that when you give somebody an album,it should be like a fresh newspaper, where you get ink on your fingers and it's today's news," says Stanley, who wrote and co-wrote the ten tracks on Live to Win specifically for the new release."For me, this album is where I'm at now - This is where things are in my life, and my perspective on my music.".

"NEXX" are Spain's melodic rock band fronted by Patricia Tapia who is also a member of Spain's biggest rock band "Mago De Oz".This album is the follow up to the 2003 Critically Acclaimed Debut "COLOURS".The new album has been produced by One of the UK's best rock producers Pete 'peewee' Coleman who Has AC/DC, Wildhearts, Echo and the Bunnymen, Paradise Lost and the Charlatans on his albums list. This is another fine mature rock album featuring some very fine songwriting and very good female vocals.

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE - THE BLACK PARADE

They are from New Jersey, the breeding ground for some very interesting and disparate musical sounds, like Springsteen and Bon Jovi.
"My Chemical Romance" is a band whose work ethic and energy match that of their musical talent.Including sounds from three generations of punk, rock, metal, and pop and even a bit of showbiz! Very good album full of surprices and with the same label-producer-studio and janitorial team as the "Green day". "My Chemical Romance" is ready to be taken seriously!

    MICHAEL BORMANN - CONSPIRACY

One of the melodic rock scene's favourite vocalists is former "Jaded Heart" frontman Michael Bormann. He's been away for some time, and hopefully for us he returns with not one, but four new projects, the first of which is his brand new solo album "CONSPIRACY".The songs featured here are really very good. Some quality melodic hard rock and some fine ballads.
Since we know Michael in person for some years,we are very happy that he is back again! Always a brilliant performer either on stage or at a friendly sing-along party.Hope to see you soon again Michael, keep rockin' us all!!!

    MASTODON - BLOOD MOUNTAIN

Metal band "MASTODON" did it again! "Blood Mountain" is flat-out amazing. If anything, it is another leap forward, both experimentaly and melodically.Lyrically and vocally, with rich harmonies and a guest appearance from QOTSA's Josh Homme.Other guests on the record include Scott Kelly of Neurosis and Cedric Bixler-Zavala of The Mars Volta. This marks yet another grand progressions for a band that is quickly building up one of the best catalogs in metal.

MAGIC NUMBERS - THOSE THE BROKES

The second album from the melodic pop-rock British band.Their harmonies are something that you haven't heard in a while, invoking thoughts of male and female pop groups of the 60's, with psychedelic bits and kibbles and a certain indie twinge.Catchy sounds and songs, happy and mellow mixed perfectly. We believe the "MAGIC NUMBERS" are making the well done difference in todays rock scene.

    LOVECHILD - SOUL COLLECTOR

"LOVECHILD" is the first band we had to write about that herald from the land of Liechtenstein!!! Its a European melodic hard rock band and this is their debut album.Maybe a bit strange singing but for sure a good rocking record to have.

    LEVERAGE - TIDES

Not a big name in the rock audience yet,but well promising band from Finland "LEVERAGE".With Pekka Heino singing lead vocals, Tuomas Heikkinen on guitar, Torsti Spoof also on guitar, Marko Niskala laying some mean riffs on the keyboards, Pekka Lampinen on bass and Valtteri Revonkorpi on drums."Tides" is the band's debute album and they can rock pretty well.Good songs and music.Melodic rock fans will love it!

    LACUNA COIL - KARMACODE

Finally the six member Italian goth-metal band are getting noticed by the general public. After the 2003's "Comalies" wich sold hundred thousand of copies, they return with "Karmacode".Their typicall sound is still here, with crunchy guitar riffs and frontwoman Cristina Scabbia's impressive, limpid singing, combined with Andrea Ferro's strong voice. From the opening track to the closing cover,'Karmacode' is a statement that Lacuna Coil will continue to climb on the goth ranks!

KINGDOM COME - AIN'T CRYING FOR THE MOON

It is their new album and 10th overall for the heavy metal band "KINGDOM COME".Killer speed riffs, another Lenny Wolf release. As is the case with the last few albums, this is more or less all Lenny's doing – from the vocals to the majority of the instrumentation. It is heavier and more driven by a modern guitar sound, but the tempo is exactly the same as previous records as is the songwriting style. But we like it anyway,we also like the cover of the album art!

KEANE - UNDER THE IRON SEA

Second album for the British trio and prooves to be almost equal of the previous.Keane’s first album “Hopes and Fears” went eight times platinum in the UK and scored gold in the USA! The fans of the group will continue to be impressed by their sheer musical genius and well produced songs. This album may not beat the commercial success of the debut album, but the excellent and innovative music, the clear vocals and intelligent lyrics make it a stand-out anyway.

BOB SEGER - FACE THE PROMISE

This may be his first album in over a decade, but veteran Detroits rock icon Bob Seger shows he has lost none of his power in songwriting,or the distinctiveness of his vocals. The album's Nashville recording locale and Seger's winning duet with Patti Loveless on "The Answer's in the Question" reaffirms the small distance and the roots between rock and country.Very good album with inspiring hard rock and ballads songs.

    BOB DYLAN - MODERN TIMES

When the majority of those in his age are drifting into retirement, 65-year-old Bob Dylan is on a three-record run that ranks with the best in his storied, 44-album career!"MODERN TIMES" is Dylan's third straight masterpiece in a row and only confirms the fact that his current period can only be compared to his inspired 1964-66 run. This is a brilliant album, beautiful songs and lyrics and fantastic jazz alike music. As for Dylans voice,is clearer than ever before.Bob Dylan is a classic artist and this is a classic album to own!

    JET - SHINE ON

On their second recording Australians retro-rockers "JET" show they've got more tricks up their sleeve. The tracks aren't bad but there are no huge stand-out songs.Their sound remains the same, wich isnt bad for the fans of the first album.A good garage-rock record!

IRON MAIDEN - A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH

"For the passion, for the glory, For the memories, for the money, You're a soldier, for your country, What's the difference, all the same…These colours don't run, from cold bloody war."
Indeed my friends and "IRON MAIDEN" know how to fight, since they are the leaders and the winners of their kind!!! "A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH" is an album that will stand well next to any Maiden classic and it is the album that has finally cemented the return of the world's number one metal band. This album is a must!!!

    EVANESCENCE - THE OPEN DOOR

This follow-up to the stunning,multi-platinum "FALLEN" was penned as singer Amy Lee's troubled romance with bandmate Ben Moody was getting out of control.Despite the loss of two members, including guitarist Moody who left mid-tour in 2003, the album has a maturity. But a major success is a tough act to follow.Selling 6 million copies and 2 great hit songs,in the earliest one,"Evanescence" and front-woman Amy Lee return now with "The Open Door".The difference is obvious but still a good record.

INFADELS - WE ARE NOT THE INFADELS

"We Are Not the Infadels" effortlessly drifts between electronics, rock'n'roll and delivering a punk sensibility.Strange sound vibrations with clear indie influence. The "INFADELS" belong to the new age punk-electro-rock bands of our times.(At least its not hip-hop)!

In Flames has been one of the leaders of the underground metal movement for over 10 years. With over 1,000,000 records sold worldwide and coming off a successful tour as part of "OZZFEST 2005", where they shared the festival's main stage with Black Sabbath,Iron Maiden and others, the time is right for this Swedish band to continue their ascent.Regarding the songs, there are many good ones on this album.Regarding guitar work, its much more solid on "Come Clarity" than on recent ones.A great heavy metal album!

    HYDROGYN - BOMBSHELL

A band that doesn't sound whiny,it actually ROCKS! Fronted by the lovely & talented Julie Westlake.Hydrogyn is a five-piece, two guitar powerhouse, one of those two guitars being played by Julie's husband Jeff Westlake. Along with the other guitarist Jeff Boggs, bass player Dave Moody and drummer Jerry Lawson.Pure hard rock then, strong sounds, great music, great voice Julie........and not only! Nice version of "18 and life" originaly by SKIDROW.Given a chance,HYDROGYN could be a lasting force in rock music!

A bold, diverse and original debut album. You may not know of Hurt yet, but you soon might.A mixture of TOOL and PERFECT CIRCLE,with ups and downs between the songs, with melodies and metal hits combined.Worths listening to.Maybe not that easy at first, getting used to it later.

HOUSE OF LORDS - WORLD UPSIDE DOWN

The hard rocking 'supergroup' "HOUSE OF LORDS" formed by former Giuffria/Angel keyboardist Greg Giuffria in 1988,releases possibly its best album. The production on this album is very good. The drumming is great. The guitar solos are awesome and long and fast and melodic. The vocals are very powerful and there are great backing vocals to match.Certainly an album for all the hard and melodic rockers.

Third album for the band and thankfully a bit diferent.Dont get me wrong its still HOOBASTANK" but more mature. Not the best songs maybe the fans would expect but how can they do it again after the huge success of 'THE REASON" in 2003? It is an easy listening modern rock album.

Not as strong as the earliest "Southern Rock Opera" (dedicated to Lynyrd Skynyrd) and "The Dirty South",but yet another classic southern rock album.
Three singers-all guitarists! That gives many changes in the mood of the songs and the final sound of this album. But also gives it a touch of depth, which prooves the quality and the experience of the band.
